Welcome to the Lewis Resource Room

Eligibility

Prior to becoming eligible for the resource program, students are tested to determine instructional levels and/or behavioral needs.  Instruction and curriculum are then carefully designed to meet individual needs.  A team of professionals will develop and IEP (Individual Education Plan), which is a legally binding plan that will be carefully followed by all personnel involved in that student's education.

Instructional Delivery

Instruction is delivered in a variety of ways:  class-within-a-class, one-on-one, and small group instruction.  Utilizing class-within-a-class instruction allows the student to stay in the general education classroom, with the resource teacher as a supplemental instructor.  One-on-one and small group instruction usually occurs in a pull-out setting, where the students will go to the resource room for supplemental or replacement instruction in the student's area(s) of need.

Curriculum

In addition to accessing the Griswold district's elementary curriculum at each individual student's level, we also utilize cross-age tutoring, specific computer software programs, and specialized reading programs to address each student's specific area of need.  We have two paraprofessionals to work with students to practice and review skills as determined by their academic goals.  These paraprofessionals work in the classroom.
